How do zoos bring in animals?

In my research about how zoos acquire animals, I've found that there are several methods. Commonly, zoos breed animals themselves or receive them through exchange programs with other zoos. It's less frequent now, but some zoos still rescue injured animals or take in exotic pets that people can no longer care for. Importantly, it's becoming less common for zoos to capture wild animals due to ethical considerations and conservation efforts.
